In 1896, George K. Young founded a coal distribution business in Southeast Pennsylvania, laying the groundwork for a family legacy that would endure through generations. George’s son, Francis P. Young, carried on the business, eventually establishing its roots in the Logan section of Philadelphia. After Francis passed away in 1953, the business was entrusted to the capable hands of George, Frank, John, and Joe Young. During this period, a major shift in heating preferences emerged as coal began to give way to fuel oil—a newer, more efficient heating solution. Recognizing this shift, the Young brothers steered the business into a new era, transforming it into a premier provider of fuel oil sales and heating services.
John Young, alongside his brothers, understood that true success in this field required expertise not only in sales but also in the technical aspects of service, installation, and repair. It was during these years that Frank Young honed his skills and gained a deep appreciation for the value of consistent service and maintenance.
